The Heritage Centre (HC), an initiative by the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), is located at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lahore Fort.

Publication Division

The Publication Division of The Heritage Centre is dedicated to publishing a variety of works including journals, monographs, historical reprints, scholarly works, and coffee table books. Our manuscripts come from the Research Division as well as independent scholars, academics, practitioners, and journalists.

We offer comprehensive services including designing, proofreading, editing, and printing. Additionally, we manage peer-reviewed journals, academic series, and promote open-access research materials.

Journal of Cultural Heritage Studies

The "Journal of Cultural Heritage Studies" is a flagship project of the Heritage Centre. This journal provides a platform for scholarly discourse and research in heritage studies, art history, cultural history, archive studies, archaeology, conservation, and management.

It aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders dedicated to preserving and promoting cultural heritage, with a particular emphasis on diverse heritage areas across times and regions.

Guidelines For Authors

The journal welcomes original research articles, review papers, case studies, and perspectives that contribute to the understanding and practice of heritage studies and conservation. We follow COPE guidelines publications:

Submissions Should Adhere To The Following Guidelines:

  • Publication Frequency The journal will be published biannually, with one issue released in the spring and another in the fall.
  • Manuscripts should be written in English and prepared according to the journal's formatting requirements. Authors are encouraged to follow the guidelines provided by the Chicago manual 16th edition.
  • All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure academic rigor and quality.

Submit Your Paper

If you are interested in publishing with us, here are the steps you will follow:

Online Submission:

Authors will submit their manuscripts online through the journal's website, which is powered by OJS. The submission process will be user friendly, guiding authors through the required steps for manuscript submission.

Peer Review Management:

Upon submission, manuscripts will undergo a double blind peer review process. OJS will facilitate the assignment of reviewers, tracking of review progress, and communication between authors, reviewers, and editors. Reviewers will submit their comments and recommendations through the OJS platform.

Editorial workflow:

Editors will manage the editorial workflow using OJS, overseeing the review process, making editorial decisions, and communicating with authors and reviewers. They will have access to tools for manuscript tracking, decision-making, and communication within the platform.

Author Communication

Authors will receive notifications and updates on the status of their submissions through OJS. They can track the progress of their manuscripts, respond to reviewer comments, and communicate with editors throughout the editorial process.

Publication Management

Once manuscripts have undergone peer review and editorial evaluation, accepted articles will be prepared for publication using OJS. Editors will ensure the formatting and presentation of articles align with the journal's guidelines before publishing them on the journal's website.

Archiving And Indexing:

OJS provides features for archiving published articles and ensuring their long-term accessibility. The journal's content will be indexed in relevant databases and repositories to enhance its discoverability and impact.

User Management

OJS allows for the management of user accounts, including editors, reviewers, authors, and readers. User roles and permissions can be customized to control access to different parts of the platform based on users' responsibilities and affiliations.

Open Access

The journal adopts an open access publishing model, making its content freely accessible to readers worldwide. OJS supports open access publishing by providing tools for article publication, licensing, and dissemination.
